To continue work on a monograph on the concept of compensatory justice and its relation to the concept of equality and meritocracy in society. Grantee will deal primarily with logical and substantive points at issue in contemporary disputes about the “reverse discrimination" change fabled against compensatory justice. Some of the questions of this issue being given special attention are: What is the relation of compensatory to social justice? For what sort of acts is compensation due? Can compensation be owed to groups as well as individuals? Recent critiques principle of reward for merit which appeal to compensatory ideals are also being examined.
