To compile a photographic record of the individual sculptural creations of some thirty American folk artists. To collect previous visual records, biographical data and relevant printed and written material. Grantee will attempt a general analysis of this art phenomenon, considering such factors as common social and psychological factors, common principles of formal composition, similar working methods, and the recurrence of similar subjects, themes, and symbols.
