FAIN: FA-11538-76

Richard F. Kuhns
Columbia University (New York, NY 10027-7922)

To study the structure and meaning of literary language through a philosophical method growing out of recent work in semiotics, semantics and modal logic. The study will conceptualize literary language as part of performance. The purpose of the study is to analyze the ways in which literary language achieves its depth of meaning as it serves to structure communal life. The study will have two dimensions: anthropological and historical on the one hand, structural and semiotic on the other.
