FAIN: FA-11558-76

George E. Brooks
Indiana University (Bloomington, IN 47405-7000)

A comprehensive historical study, the first to be published in English, entitled Guinea Bissau in the Nineteenth Century. Evolution of a Luso- African Society. The study will investigate themes and topics largely ignored by Portuguese scholars; notably the importance of Luso-Africans and Cape Verdeans in commerce; in disseminating the Crioulo language, Christianity, and other attributes of Portuguese culture in their association with Manjacs, Papels, and other African societies.
