To edit with critical introductions and commentaries Volumes IV and V which cover Mendelssohn's review articles (1756-1775) for three German journals devoted to criticism and learning. The Jubilaumsausgabe of the collected works of Mendelssohn was begun in 1929 and halted in 1938 by the Nazis and have never been reprinted in toto, nor have they ever been examined critically in their entirety. This study will notably alter and deepen our knowledge of 18th century aesthetics, literary criticism, philosophy and psychology. Mendelssohn was a key figure in the German Enlightenment and influenced Lessing, Herder, Moritz and Schiller.
