To study the history of the medieval family in the period of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries in Tuscany chiefly on the basis of unpublished wills and testaments preserved in diplomatic and notarial archives. Grantee questions whether major changes occurred in the Tuscan marriage and family across the central Middle Ages and to clarify, if such changes did occur, what factors explain them.
