To complete a translation of an un-published, anonymous, contemporary history of the so-called War of Castes, a widespread revolt of the native Maya Indians against the government in Yucatan, Mexico which lasted from 1847 to about 1900. The unpublished study, presently the property of the Yucatan government, will provide the Grantee with material for a comparative monography treating the development and ultimate fall of the various independent Maya political units.
