The project will deal primarily with the correspondence among the~ French Jansenists in France and between these and their brethren in Holland. The major problem under consideration will be the effect of the papal bull Unigenitus upon the religious freedom of the Jansenists in France. Previous information has been written from the Roman Catholic or Royalist point of view. A close scrutiny of this correspondence will give a new perspective and a better understanding of the reasons behind many of the Jansenists' activities in France during the 18th century.
