A History of the Italian Communist Part, 1921-1976

FAIN: FA-11724-77

John M. Commet
CUNY Research Foundation, John Jay College (New York, NY 10019-1007)

Study will concentrate on themes of continuity and change in the history of the Italian Communist Party and the problem of that party's supposed "exceptionalism" within the world Communist movement. To some extent, it will emphasize the work and ideas of its main leaders. It should also contribute to knowledge of the role of the PCI in the political, social, economic and cultural life of contemporary Italy. The conclusion will attempt to describe the "Italian road to socialism" within the framework of the contemporary Western European Marxist tradition.
