Ralph M. McInerny
University of Notre Dame (Notre Dame, IN 46556-4635)

To study the thought of Boethius (480-524), its sources and its influences in the medieval period and provide an in-the-round presentation of the man which will be intelligible to the non-specialist. Translator into Latin of important Greek works, notably some of Aristotle and Porphyry, Boethius also wrote commentaries on these translations and authored independent works, chief among which is the Consolation of Philosophy.
