A new biography of Anne Hutchinson expressing the significance of her role as curer and its place in English belief systems. Research in the relevant areas of history and anthropology will focus on the changing attitudes towards midwifery and childbirth, relate this medical aspect to roles of women in Reformation and revolutionary England, link these subjects to Hutchinson's life in Lincolnshire and her probable exposure to radical sectarianism, particularly "The Family of Love." These three subjects will be placed in the general context of Renaissance and Reformation history.
