FAIN: FA-12062-78

Philip C. Huang
UCLA; Regents of the University of California, Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA 90024-4201)

A study of the effects of commercialization, population increase, imperialism, natural calamities and war on the social structures--especially landlord-tenant relations, rich peasant-hired laborer relations, and owner-cultivators of 6 North China villages. Study will be based on interviews with peasants in those villages, supplemented by materials drawn from Japanese surveys, and from Chinese and American surveys of the 1920s and 1930s.
