To write a comprehensive biography of Lewis Carroll, having completed an authorized edition of his letters (to appear in 1978 in 2 volumes). P.I. has uncovered a mass of "new" material, both in manuscript and in print, that was not used in the edition of Lewis Carroll's letters. This biography should significantly alter the conventional view of the gifted Oxford don, bring his life into sharp focus, and illuminate some of the complexities of the Victorian age.
