To expand to book length an essay on "Religious Evolution." Work will study the interaction of religion and society in a variety of historical and comparative cultural contexts. Core of this book already exists in the form of a series of lectures delivered at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1975 entitled, "The Roots of Religious Consciousness."
