A Text-Critical Study of Petrarch's De Remediis Utriusque Fortune (1366)

To prepare a modern edition of Petrarch's De Remediis Utriusque Fortune of 1366, containing the Latin text, with a new English translation and a limited apparatus of notes and commentary. The De Remediis is the great accomplishment of Petrarch's later years—once immensely popular and influential, but almost inaccessible today. Specific activities include: (l) a re-reading following up the text problems as they are encountered; and (2) an index of items and names which will provide ready reference throughout the text and, eventually, concerning other Petrarchan texts.
