Faulkner's Short Fiction

FAIN: FA-12328-78

Melvin E. Bradford
Unaffiliated Independent Scholar (Irving, TX 75062)

To gather into one volume, according to one scheme or argument, Pi's fourteen published essays on Faulkner, at least 2 new essays, a preface and a conclusion. Volume would comment, at least briefly, on every short story that Faulkner published and would explicate in detail almost half the canon. Special emphasis would be given to stories of World War I, Yoknapatawpha Indians, the Mississippi plain people and the victims of sensibility. The concluding essay would deal with the fact that it is impossible to confuse most of Faulkner's short stories with the work of other writers, without disguising the real origin of these fictions. Thus, his stories will be connected with the influence of other masters of the genre.
