FAIN: FA-12348-78

Robert L. Marshall
Brandeis University (Waltham, MA 02453-2728)

An 8-chapter study which will reconstruct J. S. Bach's performance practice in his vocal music throughout his career principally by examining the 200 sets of original performing parts and the 170 surviving autograph scores. Study will consider primarily the possible significance of the particulars of Bach's actual notation, orthography, nomenclature, and the physical arrangement and spatial position of notes on the page and in relation to one another.
