CHASING SOUND explores the development of studio recording in America during the first century of recorded sound. This is the first history of the recording industry from the perspective of the technical and creative teams--engineers, musicians, music arrangers, record producers--who made the records that made the industry, and the first to trace the evolution of the recording engineering profession and its critical role in the growth of the music industry.
