The Heidegger Lexicon

Martin Heidegger was one of the most influential and original thinkers of the twentieth century. And yet, for all his influence, and despite the sizeable secondary literature his work has occasioned, Heidegger remains one of the most inaccessible of philosophers. This project is to produce a lexicon of Heidegger's key terms to assist interpreters with the difficult task of making sense of his work. Each lexicon entry will include a definition of a core term and related concepts, and provide examples of Heidegger's uses of the term and of real-world phenomena that illustrate it. Each entry will also include references to some of the most illuminating discussions of the term in Heidegger's collected writings. The Lexicon will thus also serve as an index to Heidegger's works, most of which have been published without an index. I have been awarded a contract by Cambridge University Press to put together this lexicon.
