The Nature of Artistic Expression

Theory of artistic expression with main thesis that artistic expression is grounded in "fittingness" (analogous to the way in which one chooses a tie to "fit" with the rest of an outfit) between the work and things outside the work. Previous analysis of artisitc expression has usually been limited to the expression of emotions and then it is usually understood as similar to the way in which a person expresses emotion. Fellow to elaborate concept of fittingness and explore the various psychological theories as the conditions under which fittingness is perceived.
