Fellow to spend nine months at the Arnamagnean Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark (world's major repository of Old Norse manuscripts) to complete edition and translation of the Old Norse Strengleikar. Strengleikar consists of prose version of Old French romances, one of only four copies in existence rendered in Old Norse in the first half of the 13th century. Since some of the Old French originals have been lost the Strengleikar have importance for students of comparative literature and Old French, as well as students of Norse. Fellow will also the Old French and Latin materials, various myths and characters, which found their way into Old Norse.
