To spend a year completing a book on the economic reconstruction of Europe after the First World War. By focusing on economic issues--reparations and war debts, tariff and trade patterns, in industrial competition and monetary policies--the project will delineate the limitation of the peace settlement of 1919 and why it was not more durable.
