To conduct an extensive study of Pope and his works, utilizing the threefold perspective of historical scholarship, ciritical interpretation, and literary biography. The fusion of these three perspectives in a single book will provide an orginal and comprehensive view of Pope, one designed ultimately to indentify and to describe the poet in the works.
