To research these subjects through original sources and visitation; to provide more adequate cultural training for the prospective teachers; and to create workshops, materials and publications for the continuing cultural education of present teachers. Recent surveys in Arizona show that teachers need more information concerning the cultural background of their Hispanic students, espcially in the arts and the current artistic developments. There now exists a void in this field. Project hopes to increase teacher effectiveness; make Hispanic minority cultural material available to the general university student through Liberal Studies courses; contribute to an improvement of human relations through an increased understanding of the cultural heritage of the Hispanic minority.
