To study the development of the Devotion fo the Forty Hours, a liturgical service popular in the 17th century, and the tableaux erected in conjunction with the Forty Hours during the 17th and 18th centuries in relation to the production of painted and three-dimensional illusions such as that created by Gian Lorenzo Berninin and others.
