Analysis and Comparison of African Oral-Narrative Performance

To collect material of tape and film from the areas of Swaziland, Uganda and Nigeria, for analysis and for comparison with the keystone South African collection. This study is necessary to an understanding of artistic traditions in oral-aural societies, and a knowledge of the aesthetic and structural characterstics of the imaginative traditions may well have significant ramifications in the historical and cultural study of such socieites.
