To study the literature and institutions that are concerned with prognostication and planning of the future. Applicant wishes a year's study of futuristic literature and visits to some of the major institutes to enable him to evaluate futurist studies on the basis of those values found to be important by humanists and religious leaders. Would strengthen applicant's ability to teach students how the humanities relate to their futures and enable applicant to evaluate matters essential to the future of the United States.
