To study the image as structural, thematic, and stylistic device in Rabelais's world, to elucidate the affectivity of his imagery, and to bring out its literary significance. To study the phenomenology of Rabelais's imagination and to reconcile findings with broader interpretations and Rebelais' novelistic world.
