To examine the role of Luigi Albertini (1871-1941), historian of the Great War, and owner-director of Italy's influential newspaper, the Corriere della Sera, from 1900-1925. In this latter role, and as one of Italy's leading Liberals, he exerted tremendous influence on a generation that witnessed the advent of mass politics and the advent of fascism. Yet he remains a neglected figure in the English speaking world.
