Logical and Conversational Relations in Natural Language

FAIN: FB-11998-73

Laurence R. Horn
University of Southern California (Los Angeles, CA 90089-0012)

A study to explore the nature of semantic relations in English and other natural languages, with special concentration on the connection between logical and conversational (or conventional) relations. Attention will also be paid to the relationship between language as an abstract system, and to situations in which ambiguity may become a source of richness.
