To examine regional variations of functional pottery during the Revolutionary War era. The study will examine types of styles, glazes, techniques, clay bodies used, and their influence on later wares. During the war importation of foreign pottery stopped and American craftsmen were forced to develop their own styles and techniques which developed into a distinctive American style.
