FAIN: FB-12122-74

Princeton University (Princeton, NJ 08540-5228)

To study the idea of memory and the human experience of memory as recorded in the philosophy, personal records, and poetry of 18th century England in order to understand the awakening of a new self-consciousness which occurred between 1700 and 1798. The goal of such a study is to deepen an understanding of human consciousness and to broaden the intellectual and methodological bases for the teaching of 18th century literature.
