To study Crusader monuments in situ, primarily in Israel, while writing a history of Crusader art from 1099-1291. Efforts will be focused on synthesizing knowledge of Crusader artistic activity while filling in the major gaps in the overall picture with research. Detailed, firsthand examination of actual monuments is mandatory for someone with serious scholarly interest in the Crusades, and is an important project for the entire field of art history.
