To examine Latin American culture through the film medium and prepare the means by which the Latin American "experience" can be communicated to students of the U.S. e.g. annotated bibliography, anthology of film criticism. A study of the history and evolution of film in these countries will be included, as well as a study of from as a tool in the construction of a national--continental identity, foreign influence vs. autonomous artistic expression, the relation of film to literature, current and future directions in the medium.
