FAIN: FB-12278-74

Stephen J. Stein
Indiana University, Bloomington (Bloomington, IN 47405-7000)

To examine the attitudes of Jonathan Edwards, an 18th c. American theologian, toward the Bible and his methods of interpreting it. This study will shed light upon the assumptions and convictions held by Edwards and other evangelicals in that time, and upon the contribution of religion to the coming of the American Revolution by illuminating one of the basic theological perspectives prevailing in the formative age of American life.
