To study in detail the French literature of the avant-garde from Cubism to Surrealism in order to elucidate the European background of Spanish American literature. The periodical literature of the time will be the primary source material and on analysis of the reviews which gave some attention to the innovative tendencies in the Hispanic field will be included. One focus will be on looking for meaningful basis of comparison, e.g. aesthetic links between French Cubism and Hispanic Creationsism.
