Symbol System and Style in the Arts

To examine (in terms of symbol organization and use) the basis for classifying artistic works according to their style. Problems to be dealth with in depth include 1) classification of works of diverse forms as sharing the same style; 2) different levels of classificatioon corresponding to different foci (inter-cultural comparison, artisitic "schools" individual artist's development).
