Analysis of Concepts Basic for an Empirical Understanding of Literature

FAIN: FB-12320-74

To study and analyze 7 concepts related to ordinary language philosophy, which are basic to an empirical understanding of literature. Among these concepts are the status of literary language, the relationship of literature to memory or tradition, and the claims of art to have moral effects. An eventual by-product of this study will be a book on Worsdworth's poetry and thought in terms of the empirical tradition, with the hope that such a work will be a significant contribution to contemporary literary theory.
