Study will focus on recognition in the 20th century of sculpture as a major art form (U.S. has regarded sculptors as secondary figures) Black artists, deleted in former histories of American art will be noted. Specifically, study will address itself to: 1) The identification of Black sculptors past and present; 2) A comparative approach of the styles, trends and patterns established by their art forms; 3) A close structural analysis with topical emphasis and 4) A valid aesthetic judgment of sculpture in the 20th century.
