FAIN: FB-12566-75

Herbert W.L. Burheen, Jr
University of Tennessee, Chattanooga (Chattanooga, TN 37403-2504)

To investigate the question of why religion in our own society sometimes seems irrational when judged according to standards we use in other contexts of life, by drawing on this discussion of rationality and also on recent literature in the philosophy of action. To examine that literature in the philosophy of action which is specifically concerned with how we appraise actions as rational. Study will assess the implications for religion and the study of religion of modern developments in history and the social sciences.
