A study in the area of non-western religions and philosophies, concentrating upon basic history, literature, and philosophical content of the religions of India and the Far East, with special attention to problems involved in encounters between those classical legacies and contemporary society. An attempt will be made to discern factors latent or overt within the development of non-western religions which condition their constituents negatively or positively to participate in the cultures which are evolving on the continent of Asia in the 20th century. Study will attempt to interpret religion as human phenomenon in a universal perspective.
