Spinoza's Influence on George Eliot To undertake 1) a preparation of an edition of George Eliot's translation of Spinoza's Ethics, and 2) to examine the intellectual relations between Spinoza and George Eliot. Eliot labored on the Ethics for over 10 years, and her translation would have been the first published English translation of that work. The translation is the only part of her work that has not been published. Focus of study is to complete the publication of this work and to open up a neglected area of study concerning George Eliot.
