To engage in a program of study and reading of the works of the last generation of the German writers from Prague (Prague, the capital of Czechoslovakia, remained an important German cultural and literary center even after the establishment of a state in which the German population was a minority—losing this position after WWII) and determine their relationship to the nation, the state, the literary and linguistic and cultural traditions of the Czech people; the advantages or disadvantages of the dual cultural and linguistic heritage; signs of any intellectual or artistic conflicts resulting from their unique situation.
