Aesthetic and Democratic Values in the Teaching of Poetry

To explore the issue underlying the recurring questions and anxieties raised by students in P.I's courses over their failure to experience and express the continuity of the special languages of poetry and analysis with the language by which they conduct their economic, institutional, vocational and daily life. Study would involve questions about the politics of imaginative and critical language and even about the relation of the languages of science to metaphor.
