To study the cultural and socio-political roles of immigrants to America in the years 1750-1850 focusing on such questions as the extent ethnic/religious backgrounds shaped attitudes toward the American Revolution, the Constitution, Jeffersonianism, the War of 1812, Jacksonianism and such disputes as the slavery issue as well as the effect immigrant cultures had on American Romanticism.
