Examination of the sentiments of southerners towards symbols (like "Dixie," "King Cotton," "southern hospitality") as well as the creeds, cults, and codes which flow from these symbols. Community groups or organizations which create and/or use symbols (and thereby delineate the "culture religion" of the South) will also be investigated.
