To study the theory and practice of modern German historiography since the late 19th century in the context of its relationships with German society, politics and culture. PI will focus on Friedrich Meinecke, the central figure in the transmission and redefinition of the legacy of Rankean historism and thus come closer to the inner dynamics of modern Germany.
