Michael S. Pritchard
Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo, MI 49008-5200)

To study the implications of moral psychology for the philosophical status of the Kantian principle of the respect for the dignity of persons, concentrating on the philosophical implications of those aspects of moral psychology, that emphasize tendencies to feel guilt, shame, resentment, sympathy and compassion and on the relationships between these tendencies and self-respect, respect for others, self-deception, integrity, and one's sense of dignity. These concepts will be examined as they relate to (1) social psychopathy, (2) violence; (3) theories of moral development
