FAIN: FB-13186-77

Beverly A. Brown
Rockland Community College (Suffern, NY 10901-3620)

To examine some of the vital social connections between rural and urban residents in the South, particularly focusing on Gainesville and its agricultural hinterland, approaching town and countryside as a systematic social field. Research will explore a) linkages between rural families and town institutions, b) governmental and political times, c) Town and rural residents’ stereotypes, and d) the extent to which economic and social changes have altered the nature of these networks over the last three decades. PI also intends to research similar networks in East Africa.
