Prescott College (Prescott, AZ 86301-2913)

To study the role of ceremonies of food and eating in promoting small group solidarity. The acts of producing, preparing, and consuming food are prescribed in all cultures, and are intimately associated with all other aspects of behavior. This study will result in a statement of principles and guidelines for future research in the anthropology of food and food habits, and in a comprehensive bibliography of resources of value in such studies.
